Good start for mHealth App +WoundDesk

The Swiss start-up digitalMedLab has launched their mHealth app +WoundDesk a month ago. The mobile Health App is intended to reduce the number of hospitalstay days for patients with chronic wounds. In the meantime an important magazine reported about the app and digitalMedLab made it to the finals of an international mHealth competition.

+WoundDesk is a mobile solution for assessment and documentation of chronic wound by trained providers at patients’ home, in the physician practice, in nursing homes or in a medical center. The automated wound surface measurement and the severity score calculation allow an early detection of wound healing impairment with a positive impact on patient need for complication related hospitalisation. The special feature +Wound Report help share wound information among involved care provider and make it a valuable collaborative tool that improve the communication.

The +WoundDesk platform, that includes a mobile app, shareable wound reports, an open health API, a webbased administration and health analytics, supports providers throughout the whole wound management process to improve the process and quality of wound management.

“The solution shows a deep understanding of health care systems' needs and offers an unparalleled usability." said Dr. Martin Denz, President of the Swiss Association for Telemedicine and eHealth.

+WoundDesk “Basic”, the free version, has been launched on March 3, 2015. A paid version with extended functionality will be available at the end of the year.

Even before the launch digitalMedLab, the startup behind +Wounddesk, reported about first important achievements: The good results from the first clinical study on “Accuracy and reliability of wound surface area measurement using +WoundDesk” have engaged the European Connected Health Alliance's attention and digitalMedLab, has been selected for a showcase during Health & Wellness @ Mobile World Congress 2015 in Barcelona in March 2015.

The launch the app aroused the interest of BNP PARISBAS. A magazine of the group reported about +WoundDesk.

The next highlight is already fixed: DigitalMedLab is one of the finalists of Appcircus at conhIT 2015 - Europe’s leading industry event for healthcare IT. The team from Winterthur can present their app at the fair and has the chance to win the the award for the best "interaction of doctors, nurses and patients” app. The award ceremony will take place on 15 April 2015.
