Swissloop among the Top 3 of the Hyperloop competition
Hyperloop is a new mode of high-speed transportation. Passengers or cargo are loaded into the Hyperloop vehicle and accelerate gradually via electric propulsion through a low-pressure tube. The vehicle quickly lifts above the track using magnetic levitation and glides at airline speeds for long distances due to ultra-low aerodynamic drag. During the last months universities around the world competed to design, build and race pod prototypes of the Hyperloop. Yesterday the finals took place at a 1.25km-long test track in California. Swissloop made it to the Top 3. Swissloop consists of more than 50 Mechanical and Electrical Engineers, Material and Computer Scientist as well as Physics Engineers from Bachelor to PhD. The team is mainly based at ETH Zurich and complemented by design, architecture and business students from various higher education institutions across Switzerland.
