Meet the 13 finalists of the Social Impact Award

The Jury of the Social Impact Award has nominated 13 finalists that will further compete in the 2017 edition. Each finalist will deliver a 3-minute pitch to the jury and audience at the award ceremony in September. The best three teams will be selected as winners. They will receive a cash prize of CHF 4000 and a ticket to the SIA Summit in Serbia.

Social Impact Award (SIA) is an education program and idea competition for young entrepreneurs looking to develop and implement innovative solutions to the world’s most pressing problems.

In 2017 edition, 12 finalists were nominated. The finalists are currently participating in the incubation program at Impact Hub Geneva where receive coaching and mentorship program, a series of business workshops, talks and panels, a variety of networking opportunities and collaborations and the opportunity to work from an inspiring co-working environment. The criteria for selecting the finalists were mainly Social Impact, Innovation and Feasibility.

The finalists include:

CO-Objectifs 21 SA – the company aims to support companies and communities of Suisse Romande in optimizing their environmental performance in terms of Management and reduction of associated costs

Cuisine Lab – a Social Culture & Cooking Lab community of locals and newcomers using culture and cooking as a catalyst for intercultural exchange, personal growth, and integration.

Epi’Coop – connects refugees and migrants with the local population by working together in the retail sale of local products.

Gymitrainer – a fun and engaging online learning platform for the Swiss high school entrance exam

Internet for Girls Empowerment Lab – Internet for Girls in an introductory programming course for girls between 12 and 15 years old in rural areas of Ukraine

L’éthiquette – a platform which centralized the offer of sustainable and ethical clothes and offers them to rent in Switzerland. The sustainability and ethics of each piece and fabricant will be analyzed.

LittleSwitzerland – The project's mission is the creation of a Swiss socio-cultural center in Vietnam;

MarketLab – Based on the principle of coworking, MarketLab gathers different food producers and craftsmen of taste to allow to make all its food races at an affordable price while having a drink.

MeasurImpact – a web tool allowing social entrepreneurs and investors to account for their impacts easily and transparently.

MotherStories – supports women by allowing them to share their experiences on the many subjects related to maternity.

Rendre le style au Vêtement – Knitwear brand that promotes craftsmanship as well as respect for the different actors of production and their working conditions, nature and clothing itself.

Thinkmilk –develops devices and services to control milk substances rate and diseases.

Waterdrop Vietnam – The project aims at building lasting social, economic, health and environmental impacts through the implementation of low-technologies to improve drinking water access in Vietnam.

 

Award ceremony
After the incubation process the finalists will deliver a 3-minute pitch during the Social Impact award ceremony on 28 September 2017. Three teams that most convince the jury will be selected as the winners of the challenge. They will be bestowed with a cash prize of up to CHF 4000 and a ticket to the SIA Summit in Serbia, where winners from all the participating countries in the world will meet to deepen their expertise.
