The W. A. de Vigier award recognizes startups that have outstanding solutions and personality. The selection committee will shortlist the top 16 startups and ten to the final round. Five winners will each receive a cash prize of CHF 100’000 during the award ceremony.
Last year, the award committee of the W. A. de Vigier award received 220 applications out of which 16 made it to the short list, 10 to the final round and five won the challenge. This year the award goes into the next round, in search for the next five startups that have the most promising solutions.
Following the application round, the selection committee will select 60 startups that will be pitch their ideas in front of the foundation board, interested guests and investors.
The committee will apply a strict assessment including aspects like leadership, personality, and entrepreneurship, to assess the startups. This element of the selection process makes the W.A. de Vigier Foundation one of the few start-up sponsors that systematically take into account the human factor, which brings added value to the start-ups. Other selection criteria include; innovativeness, value to the society, technical and financial feasibility, market and job creation potential.
Top 16 startups that pass the assessment will proceed to the next round where the top ten startups that will pitch during the award ceremony will be nominated. During the award ceremony at the de Vigier Sommerhaus in Solothurn, the top ten companies have the opportunity to showcase their solutions to the audience and the jury. The jury will announce and award the five best startups each with a cash prize of CHF 100’000.
Eligible to apply are to the competition are founders of startups that are domiciled in Switzerland and are younger than 45 years.
The application deadline close on 7th January 2019.
