The 2015 European CEO Awards offer an insight into the firms and individuals that are leading the way in their sectors. Among them are Biovoation, Hutman Diagnostics and Xeltis.

For the selection of the winners of the 2015 European CEO Awards the team of the European CEO magazine conducted extensive research and listened to industry expertise and reader input. Selected were those companies that have raised standards across their respective industries over the past year, set the marker for others to aspire to and have changed Europe for the better. Winners include companies such as Sanofi, J.P.Morgan and Oracle.

The three Swiss start-ups among the winners are:

Biovotion - Most Innovative Medical Device Company
A leading wearable physiological monitoring solutions company, Biovotion’s digital health innovations support a healthy lifestyle and improve treatment outcomes. The judges decided to award Biovotion for its leadership and the broad application for their medical device and its ability to save both time and money and allow the patient greater independence away from hospitals. Usability is an often forgotten aspect of medical devices and Biovotion has taken a pragmatic approach that will ensure its patients feel comfortable using the product.

Hutman Diagnostics - Most Innovative Biotech Company
Since its establishment in January 2011, Hutman Diagnostics has expanded with a steadfast focus on in vitro diagnostics and DNA-based applications for the treatment of infectious diseases. The group has developed highly innovative methods to engineer a probe’s development process, and this is supported by a global network of microbiology laboratories. The main objective is to rapidly shorten the time taken to diagnose diseases through thorough and highly sensitive investigative methods. The impact of this approach is that less time will be needed to find cures, which not only reduces health costs – it saves lives.

Laurent Grandidier, CEO Xeltis - Best CEO Medical Device Industry
Following a successful academic career, including an MBA from INSEAD, Grandidier started his professional activities at Procter&Gamble as project leader. Grandidier’s expertise in medical devices results from working in leadership positions for companies including Endosense, as vice president for sales, marketing and global business development. In 2011, Grandidier joined Xeltis, a medical device start-up aiming to improve standards of care in heart valve replacement and vascular surgery. The company is currently developing the first ever bioabsorbable cardiovascular valves and vessels. Under his leadership, Xeltis developed from a small university spin-off to one of the most attractive start-up companies in one of the most dynamic sectors within the medtech industry
