»venture» 2016, the leading Swiss-wide start-up competition plans its 11th edition, welcoming a new organisation partner of the western part of Switzerland: The EPFL Lausanne. Deadline for handing in applications is until 28 April 2016.

The upcoming 11th »venture edition will offer participants a powerful start-up package containing coaching, networking and publicity. This year EPFL Lausanne will be welcomed on board as the fifth organisation partner.

Kick-Off
The official kick-off for the competition will take place on February 9, 2016 at EPFL Lausanne and on February 10, 2016 at ETH Zurich. The events will feature an interesting panel discussion with former winners, lots of participants, coaches and representatives of the Swiss start-up ecosystem. The kick-off is followed by a series of where participants can meet co-founders and coaches.  Registration deadline for the competition is until April 28, 2016.

The Venture team is also introducing a number of completely new events; the Institute of Intellectual Property (IPI) Workshop (April 07, ETH Zurich / April 05, EPFL Lausanne; Introduction: March 10, ETH Zurich / March 15, EPFL Lausanne). In this event, teams get the opportunity for an assisted patent research made possible by the Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property (IPI). Experts from the teams' respective technical fields will answer questions all about protecting innovations. Then together with those experts, teams will look at how new their idea or invention is by searching in various patent databases for similar or identical inventions.

Prizes and Deadline
The best business idea proposals will be awarded start-up consulting powered by McKinsey & Company, as well as total prize money of CHF 10'000. The total prize money for the business plan competition is CHF 120'000; the best team will be awarded CHF 60'000. All offers are free of charge for participants.
