Scandit, developer of the leading software-based barcode scanning solutions for smartphones, tablets and wearable devices, today announced that it has grown sales revenues in Europe by more than 690 per cent year over year, and doubled its European customer base during the same time period.

Scandit added a number of popular European retail and enterprise customers including: Ahold, the Netherlands-based international retailing group with more than 3,000 stores; Migros, Switzerland’s biggest employer as well as its largest retail company and supermarket chain; Coop, Switzerland’s largest wholesale company, with more than 1400 shops and 2.5 million members; Esselunga, the Italian retail store chain; and Saab, the Swedish premium car manufacturer.

“As global demand for cloud-based barcode scanning technology and related mobile solutions continues to skyrocket, we are seeing tremendous success in Europe, where retailers and logistics companies understand the value and power of end-to-end data capture solutions. Our record growth in this market is evidence of our ongoing commitment to delivering industry-leading solutions,” said Samuel Mueller, CEO of Scandit.

The company also announced that it has expanded its growing international team with the hire of two new strategic sales directors: Paul Davis has been brought on to develop business through direct sales and indirect channels for Northern Europe and Asia and Christian Schilling has been brought on to do the same for Eastern and Southern Europe as well as all German-speaking countries.

“As Scandit makes strides in Europe and new markets around the world, it’s incredibly important that our executive team represents the brightest and most strategic players in our industry. Both Paul and Christian are heavy-hitters with deep domain experience and proven success expanding sales operations in their respective markets. I’m excited to bring them on board and leverage their expertise to expand across Europe and Asia in 2015 and beyond,” Mueller added.
