Creating new solutions overnight

The Startup Weekend team invites individuals intending to start their own business to join the upcoming Startup Weekend in Biel/Bienne, Luzern and Basel. Participants will be immersed in the ideal environment of a startup where they will transform their ideas into startups in 54 hours.

During the weekend, participants will meet new people with whom they will build a team and work together to transform their ideas or business models into solutions. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to meet and learn from coaches, mentors, investors, cofounders, and sponsors who will assist them on their journey of company creation. At the end of every Startup Weekend, teams will present their end product or prototype to the judges who will select the best teams to take the prizes.

Eligible to participate are individuals who are keen on learning about starting a startup and would like to get feedback from experts, meet like-minded people to start a company with and pitch their idea to investors. Participants are not obliged to have an idea beforehand in order to to participate in the event.

 Startup Weekend Fintech Geneva, 21 - 23 April 2017
Individuals with a business idea in the fintech field are invited to submit their application. They will transform their ideas into a feasible FinTech startup. In just 54 hours, participants will experience the highs, lows, fun, and pressure that make up life at a startup. As they learn how to create a real company, they will meet with various mentors, investors, cofounders, and sponsors who are ready to support them get started.

Mobility and tourism Hackathons
A Hackathon is a 36 to 48-hours event that challenges young programmers, designers, tech-fans and code makers to find ideas and create solutions as well as develope prototypes in accordance with the prevailing topic. In addiiton to the already published list of hackathons 2017, two new hackathons for the topics moblility and tourism have been organised. These include:

Alpine Tourism Hack: 21 – 23  March 2017
Pioneers Discover is hosting a Hackathon to shape the future of tourism in the Swiss region of Engadin, St.Moritz. Ten selected startups from various fields will work on innovative solutions to maximize the region’s potential.

Participants will be put to challenge to create innovative solutions for three topics:

1. Gamification and new media: Startups from the fields of virtual reality, mixed reality & augmented reality will be given creative freedom to create solutions that add value for the customer.

   They will create new prototypes or concepts and use technologies like Head-mounted-displays, smartphones or 3D camera systems.

2. Data Analytics: Using sensor, machine & location-based data, startups will be challenged

   to find dependencies and connections. They will Create new prototypes or concepts and uncover the hidden value of data to map customers or detect machine failure.

3. Chatbots: Elaborate around real-life challenges from tourism-leaders to not only develop concepts but have the potential to drive real impact. In this category, startups will c6reate new prototypes or concepts for chatbots that are able to change the ways customers or employees interact.

After the completion of developing their prototypes, startups will present to the jury. A winner in each will be determined and awarded accordingly.

Brain Hack Geneva 2017 – Let's Hack The Mobility: 08 - 09 April 2017
For the first time BrainHack will take place in Geneva starting on 8. April and ending on 9. April at 20:00. For this 1st edition, participants will create solutions designed to hack the Mobility in Geneva. No project are required, just the brain, energy and enthusiasm. Participants will meet like-minded people, entrepreneurs, designers, developers, hackers, and several creative peopl.

In a team of five, participants will to find innovative ideas or solutions around the theme “hack mobility in Geneva”. After 36 hours, each team will have developed a prototype of their product or service and will present it to the jury.
