The International Create Challenge gives entrepreneurs the opportunity to drive their projects to a Minimum Viable Product. Upon graduation three teams will be selected and awarded a cash prize. Registration closes on 1st May.

The International Create Challenge 2017 is a free of charge 3-week acceleration program organised by Idiap Research Institute and the Association for Interactive Multimodal Information Management (AIM2). The program is designed to provide entrepreneurs, developers, researchers and designers with resources to drive their early stage technology innovation into Minimum Viable Products and start-ups. The program offers intensive coaching by experts, seed funding and competitive prizes. The program will take place from 30th August to 20th September.

For ideas or projects to be eligible for the ICC, they should exploit information and communication technologies (ICT) as available within Idiap. Research themes of the Idiap Research Institute are:

  • Perceptual and cognitive systems
  • Social/ human behaviour
  • Information interfaces and presentation
  • Biometric Person Recognition
  • Machine learning

The selection process will be conducted in two phases:
In the first phase candidates will be selected according to their skills – software developing and programming, web design and graphic arts and entrepreneurship and business – and their motivation. Having an idea is not necessary at this stage. Individuals in search of an idea will be given the possibility to integrate a team. In the second phase, the selected candidates will be judged based on the teams they set up and their project ideas. These best projects will be rewarded by financial and logistical support together with an appropriate coaching dedicated to the creation and development of a startup.

After the three weeks the best three teams will each receive CHF 5’000 cash of prize money. There is also the possibility to negotiate seed funding in exchange of up to 10-15% of equity of the created company. Should one of the teams decide to create a company locally by integrating the IdeArk Incubator, additional grants will be delivered including an open access to The Ark Incubator with in-kind support of over CHF 100'000, CHF 10’000 in the form of a The Ark Scholarship among others.

Deadline: 1st May 2017
