Fondazione Agire strengthens the culture of innovation in Ticino with its Scouting Days
With the launch of its new service, Scouting Days Agire, Fondazione Agire is offering SMEs, startups and investors in the Ticino and Italian Grisons resources and channels to promote the organization of specific initiatives. The first initiative, calling for ideas to transform the pharma sector, has been launched.
Scouting Days Agire is a new matching platform designed for companies and startups to create structured formats aimed at bringing together different actors, to achieve a specific common goal, which will be identified from time to time. To facilitate the success of these initiatives, organisations can leverage the foundation’s network of services and international contacts in the field of innovation.
The format ‘scouting for innovation’ is designed for companies in the Ticino region intending to launch a specific “CALL for Innovation” in search for inventors, researchers or startups that will help to promote innovation for a particular company. The Agire Foundation will also provide SMEs resources to accompany the development phases of the project and the infrastructure for a final event at the Technopole in Manno.
Sintetica, a pharmaceutical company delivering injectable medicines to patients worldwide, is the first company to launch a call under this format. The Sintetica Innovation Award is a start-up competition aiming to bring together specialists and experts in the biotechnology and digitalisation sectors with innovative Swiss-based projects. The company aims to identify new ideas that have the potential to transform the pharmaceutical industry and support the teams in bringing their project to life. In addition to a partnership with Sinteca, the winning team will receive a cash prize of CHF 25000. Eligible to apply are Switzerland based startups in the field of perioperative care and critical care (ICUs), focused on digital health or disease management. Applicants should have a prototype of the idea. Registration closes on 13. August 2021.
Scouting for investors
Under the format ’scouting for investors’, the foundation organises dedicated sessions during which startups in its ecosystem will have the opportunity to present themselves to an audience of local investors to seek new funding. Through this initiative, Agire aspires to create and grow an indigenous network of investors and bring new subjects, especially Family Offices, closer to the startup community in Canton Ticino. A first pilot event (by invitation only) in this area is already scheduled for June 17 at the Technopole.
