The Eurostars programme supports R&D performing SMEs. One of them is gymetrics from Lausanne, a start-up developing measurement systems for cell culture.

Gymetrics successfully applied for a Eurostars project that will begin in March 2013 with its manufacturing partner in France, MAATEL and with active support from Texas Instruments in Germany. The project called CytOsens aims to develop a versatile platform for continuous multi-parameter monitoring of adherent and suspension cell culture bioprocesses in incubators.

Gymetrics, based in Lausanne, was founded in 2011 and is a lifescience tools and diagnostics company that focuses on single-use measurement systems for cell culture. gymetrics technology offers continuous monitoring of cell culture micro-environments. The company is currently developing unique tools, using patent pending technology for cell culture monitoring, starting with pH and t° mini-bioreactors before adding additional parameters and formats. The first products will launch in 2013.

Eurostars Programme is a European Joint Programme dedicated to the R&D performing SMEs*, and co-funded by the European Communities and 33 EUREKA member countries. Research-performing SMEs are SMEs that dedicate at least 10% of their turnover or full-time equivalent (FTE) to research activities.

Eurostars aims to stimulate these SMEs to lead international collaborative research and innovation projects by easing access to support and funding. It is fine-tuned to focus on the needs of SMEs, and specifically targets the development of new products, processes and services and the access to transnational and international markets.
