Algrano, the Swiss coffee start-up, won the Award for the Best New Product of the Show in the Category Technology and IT Innovation during the annual gathering of the European coffee industry.
Algrano has arrived in Gothenburg, after a road show through Switzerland, Germany, Denmark and Sweden. The start-up developed a new online solution facilitating the communication and direct trade of green beans between roasters and producers. The company offers an innovative, combined approach of an online platform and an efficient supply chain. Customers are offered full price transparency and traceability. The platform was launched this week.
During the annual meeting of the European coffee industry, organized by the Specialty Coffee Association of Europe, algrano was awarded with the Best New Product of the Show Award in the Category Technology and IT Innovation.
The start-up is run by three long-term friends. Gilles Brunner holds a Master Degree in International Relations and has worked for several years in the coffee trading industry. Christian Burri has an IT and Physics background and served as a sustainability consultant. Raphael Studer, PhD in Economics, held positions as analyst in energy trading and business developer in a small cap. Algrano has already won the Start-up Chile and Start-up Brasil programs and successfully closed a seed money round.
