CombaGroup is a Vaud based agribusiness startup developing a unique cost-effective and eco-friendly solution for growing high-quality lettuce with a longer shelf-life, close to consumer and all year long. The startup announced a successful completion of CHF 6 million Series A financing round led by Business Angels Switzerland.
CombaGroup, under the leadership of founder Benoit de Combaud has developed an innovative technology which delivers improved yield, longer shelf-life, lower operating expenses and requires 90% less water than traditional irrigation for the salad industry. This enables clients to yield significantly higher productivity gains compared to field production.
The financing round was led by members of Business Angels Switzerland (BAS), Switzerland’s largest business angel group that supports startups through capital financing. Members also share expertise, know-how and personal contacts with the companies they invest in. It is with this mindset that its support to Combagroup materialised.
In collaboration with its current trade investors, including a European leader in the pre-packaged salad industry and a mature pipeline for their product, the startup aims to use the funds to accelerate the development of Swiss industrial innovation in the global agritech market.
