Today, the Schwyz based startup Threema announced that Daimler AG has chosen Threema Work as their internal messaging tool. Threema Work which was launched a few months ago is tailored to the internal communication needs of companies and organizations.

Threema Work is an encrypted enterprise messaging tool which facilities secure internal communication in organisations. Besides merely text and speech messages, the tool allows for sharing word and PDF documents, pictures, videos and location. Moreover the app allows users to create group chats, address lists which they can use to schedule meetings.

In the past two weeks, Threema launched for windows phones. In addition, Threema Work 3.11k for Android introduced support for Threema Web (as well as a new image editor). Messages and files can now be sent and received conveniently on the desktop. Currently, Threema Web is available for the Android version of the Threema Work app; support for other platforms is in preparation.

Besides their newly acquired client, Daimler AG, many other well-known corporations have already started using Threema Work. Numerous small and medium-sized businesses as well as public institutions have also opted for Threema Work.

Threema not only ensures security for organisations, it also provides its services to individuals. Unlike the already existing chat services such as Whatsapp or Facebook, Threema uses as little metadata as technically possible, meaning there is less of chance that third-parties like corporations, advertisers, and government agencies can misuse user information. Threema does not require personal information, such as phone number or email address, nor does it require an address book or contact list, which ensures complete anonymity.
