New C-Suite leaders assume responsibility to boost startup growth

A change of leadership allows startups to exploit the experience and knowledge their appointed hires bring to the company. Two CEOs, two COOs and one CFO recently assumed their responsibility to fuel growth and development in their new companies.

With his experience and focused approach, Marcel W. Hueppi will lead Nootrie AG as CEO. A specialist in beverage technology, the startup designed and developed a stylish home appliance - a capsule system for protein shakes - that supports daily nutritional requirements with a convenient pod system to produce tasty drinks. The device has been granted patents in Europe and the US. Mr Hueppi held various C-level roles and Board member positions in multiple companies. Most recently he was the managing owner of mwh consulting in St. Gallen and the managing director at Bioptron, a multinational company providing medical devices.

Anjarium Biosciences AG – CEO
Anjarium a biotech company focused on creating and delivering a new class of non-viral gene therapies, appointed Stephen Yoo, as the Company's CEO. Stephen brings to Anjarium a wealth of experience in building early-stage life sciences companies, having worked in the industry for 14 years. He most recently worked as Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and Head of R&D at Third Harmonic Bio where, as one of its first two employees, he was instrumental in growing the company and securing key financing. Before that, Stephen was the first CMO of Regenxbio, which he helped take from a private company through a successful IPO, expanding its capabilities and advancing a pipeline focused on AAV gene therapies for retinal, metabolic and neurodegenerative diseases. Prior to Regenxbio, he held multiple roles in clinical development at MedImmune/AstraZeneca and at Abbott Labs within the autoimmunity and inflammation group.

Dotphoton – CFO
Dotphoton is an industry-leading raw image compression to enable the efficiency and reliability of large image data processing in critical applications. Over the past months, the startup hired several new members to grow its team. One of them is Anna Rebollini, who embodies the role of CFO. She was an associate of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. Her 20+ years of international experience covers company establishment and funding, group structuring, financial management of private and listed companies, acquisitions and disposals of investments and a $300m shareholder exit.

Nouscom – COO
With the promotion of Richard (Rick) Davis to the position of COO, Nouscom continues to benefit from his industry-rich experience to drive the company forward. Nouscom is a clinical-stage immuno-oncology company developing off-the-shelf and personalized viral vectored immunotherapies. Rick has over 20 years' experience in the life sciences sector with significant expertise in business development and investment, focused on building strategic partnerships and growth strategies. He joined Nouscom from Johnson and Johnson Innovation where he was the Global Oncology Venture and Transaction Lead seeking opportunities from startups through to collaborations with biotechnology companies. He led further multiple roles as CEO and Board member of biotech companies.

Sonect – COO
Following the integration of Twint into Sonect, more than 2300 businesses enable individuals to withdraw cash using Twint via the Sonect App. To further boost its growth Sonect, also known as the virtual ATM, has welcomed Fintech pioneer Thomas Landis to the company as COO. He was involved in the first Swiss payment apps Paymit and Twint as Head of Innovation and he ledF10, the incubator of stock exchange operator SIX.
