New executives to drive innovation at deeptech startups

The top executive seats at Cleangreens, Lunaphore, Synergy Quantum, Aeler and SonarSource have been occupied. The selected leaders bring a wealth of experience in their respective industries to help the startups thrive on the upcoming journey.

After five years of leading Cleangreens, the producer of organic lettuce in its greenhouses, Serge Gander has handed over his CEO seat to Bruno Cheval. Cheval counts more than 25 years of experience in financial markets and corporate finance, developing economic models and valuations to assist business leaders in the funding and growth of their companies. As an operational and strategic CFO, evaluating the company’s financial performance and individual projects, along with a long-term vision, Cheval has demonstrated his analytical, organizational, and intuitive skills to continue the development of CleanGreens.

Chief Financial Officer for Lunaphore
Lunaphore, a Swiss life sciences company developing technology to enable spatial biology in every laboratory, welcomed Alice T. Feng to its leadership team as Chief Financial Officer. Feng brings over two decades of finance and corporate development leadership experience and investment banking expertise, participating in over 30 merger and acquisition and financing transactions with an aggregate transaction value of $45 billion.

Chief Operating Officer for Synergy Quantum
Synergy provides highly secure communication platforms, including mobile applications and data storage platforms for governments and companies seeking to protect their private and confidential data whilst facilitating internal communication. Manu Khullar joined the company as Chief Operating Officer, bringing 29 years of semiconductor experience working as group head for STMicroelectronics in Switzerland. His vast experience in managing complex IT projects within the industry will help in the development of silicon chips with embedded PQE.

Commercial Director for Aeler
The Swiss logtech company re-inventing the shipping container its role plays in logistics welcomed Johnson Tan, former Commercial Director at shipping giant Unifeeder, as Commercial Director. In his previous roles, Tan was instrumental in helping grow X-Press Feeder’s northern European business from scratch to becoming the second-largest regional network of short sea operators in just 10 years. Then at Unifeeder, Tan led the development and rollout of highly innovative commercial concepts that boosted the company’s client retention rate.

Two senior positions at SonarSource
Andrea Malagodi and Gordon Pothier are the new Chief Financial Officer and Chief Technology Officer, respectively, at SonarSource, the leading provider of solutions to clean code. Malagodi, who began working at SonarSource in August 2021, previously worked at JPMorgan Chase & Co. as CTO, International Consumer in the United Kingdom. Before that, he held the position of CTO, Consumer and Community Bank in the United States. Pothier, who started at SonarSource in November 2021, previously served as CFO at Onapsis, a leading application security startup. Earlier, he worked as Vice President of Finance and CFO at software security firm Carbon Black, which VMWare acquired in 2019. The two leaders come to SonarSource as the company achieves massive market momentum. From November 2020 to November 2021, SonarSource added over 5,000 customers, reaching 15,000 total commercial customers. Together, Malagodi and Pothier will play a central role in supporting and accelerating SonarSource’s growth. The two proven tech industry leaders will help SonarSource build upon its growing business momentum, achieve new company milestones and continue delivering the industry’s best platform to build better software.
