Start-ups stir up hotspot Berlin
In recent years Berlin has become one of the main hotspots of the international founders’ scene, and it’s mainly start-ups in the online industry at the forefront. Reason enough for young entrepreneurs from Switzerland to sniff the Berlin air – the metropolis is an ideal location for Swiss companies if they want to enter the German market. For example, GetYourGuide, the world’s largest online portal for booking tours, excursions and activities, is already in place. Social TV channel Joiz starts its German broadcasts on 5 August, and just three days later, on 8 August, share economy start-up Mila will be in Berlin for the opening party of its German platform mila.de.
Innovative Swiss start-ups with clever mobile technology solutions can apply for an appearance at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next February. Thanks to Alp ICT, Switzerland Global Enterprise and CTI Startup, a SWISS Pavilion will be established for the first time at the congress, where Swiss innovators will be able to present their developments and products to visitors. Exhibition space is limited, however, and just nine places are reserved for start-ups. Interested companies should register quickly, and at the latest by the end of August.
August is always the month in which application deadlines for awards expire, so startupticker.ch has compiled a list of those competitions currently underway exclusively for its readers.
And lastly a reference to two important dates: the CTI Medtech Event 2013, at which the CTI Medtech Award 2013 is awarded, will be held in Bern on 27 August. The second date is 23 October, which should be earmarked as it’s CEO Day, where more than 400 young entrepreneurs, coaches, investors and innovators will meet in Bern.
Have a relaxing summer’s weekend.
