Mehdi Aminian is a serial Web entrepreneur. His last venture, Jilion was sold early this year to Dailymotion. At the next Startup Grind Zurich on 4 December he will share his learnings from building a success, and all they went through during selling the company. We can offer our readers two free tickets.

A year ago Dailymotion announced the acquisition of Jilion, the Lausanne based development team behind cutting edge HTML5 video technology, SublimeVideo. Jilion, a Swiss start-up founded in 2009 and based at the EPFL Innovation Park in Lausanne, developed a universal, yet customizable HTML5 video player. Dailymotion has 120 million unique visitors generating over 2.5 billion video views every month according to comScore (August, 2013). It is ranked the 35th most visited website in the world.

The exit was well prepared. Jilion has not only a revolutionary software solution and a team that was interesting for Dailymotion. The preparation for the sale started nearly two years before the deal with Dailymotion was closed. To start the process, the founders of Jilion contacted a retired mergers and acquisitions expert who gave them a crash course in M&A. In April 2012, Jilion signed a contract with an M&A firm to get professional support, and the process ended successfully with the acquisition by Dailymotion in January 2014.

The fireside chat with Mehdi Aminian promises to be interesting for ambitious start-up founders. It will take place on 4 December in Zurich. We have two free tickets for the event on a first come first served basis. Just send us an e-mail: news@startupticker.ch
