G2e and Sefar have signed an agreement to jointly develop a solar module based on g2e’s Dye Sensitized Cell (DSC). In addition Sefar will become a g2e shareholder during the company’s next capital increase.

The Sefar fabrics are based on extremely fine metallic and synthetic monofilaments that are virtually invisible to the naked eye. They have a very low ohmic resistance and are placed between the two glass panels of the g2e technology. By following this procedure, the products’ performance will be increased and at the same time the transparency of the panels will be improved due to the reduction of the lines on the glass.

For Sefar, this collaboration confirms its strategy to position itself within the architectural and energy generation market. Sefar will become a g2e shareholder during the company’s next capital increase, thus reinforcing the g2e shareholders who actively contribute to the development of g2e with their respective know-how. Existing shareholders include Sottas, Groupe E, EPFL, Swisscom and Capital Risque Fribourg.

Glass 2 Energy Ltd has acquired a DSC licence of a new type of photovoltaic cell, based on advances made by Professor Grätzel of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL). The technology of dye synthesized solar cells is often referred to as artificial photosynthesis, analogous to chlorophyll in leafs, where a sensitized dye absorbs light and generates excited electrons.
