60'000 start-ups applied for the Web Summit in Lisboa, 200 were selected for a pitch and out of those three finalists were chosen. One of the three companies that pitched to an audience of 10'000 people was PapayaPods, the rental housing management software company born at EPFL Innovation Park La Forge.
Lausanne based PapayaPods made a big impression at the Web Summit 2016. At the leading European tech event recently hosted in Lisbon, PapayaPods was selected as the best “SaaS (Software as a Service) start-up, and qualified as a finalist finishing among the Top 3 companies of the competition.
A total of 60’000 startups applied to pitch, out of which 200 were selected to participate. Thirteen thousand people attended the pitch final in the Meo Arena (main stage). Sitting among the jury of the pitch finals were Steve Anderson, first investor in Instagram and Twitter, Marcus Segal, Partner at Y Combinator and Theresia Gouw, co-founder of Aspect Ventures.
Founded by three Alumni of the Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne, Alex Just, Jakub Riziky and Adrien Stucki, as well as two computer scientists, Aaron and Elliot Pitts, PapayaPods is an intuitive and easy to use software that revolutionises rental housing. Simplifying the complexity of the global rental housing market, PapayaPods is today recognised for its considerable growth potential.
Currently PapayaPods is operating in Switzerland. The company has already started market entry into Spain and the UK with plans for other countries in the not too distant future.
