Uepaa! Swiss Alpine Technology has been recognised as one of the world’s most innovative e-content products at the UN-based World Summit Award (WSA). Uepaa! is the first Swiss company in 10 years to win this award.

By being announced a WSA Winner in the category e-Health & Environment, Uepaa! has been recognized as being one of the most innovative, technically advanced and well designed e-content products worldwide. Uepaa! competed against 461 outstanding ICT ventures from 168 countries, with the process comprising several stages. Uepaa! was first nominated by the WSA’s National Experts in e-Health & Environment and was subsequently recognised as being Switzerland’s best entry in this category. In a three day process earlier in August, Uepaa! was shortlisted by WSA’s international Grand Jury - a team of 17 e-content experts from across the globe and with diverse backgrounds as industry leaders, researchers, social entrepreneurs and journalists - and announced as one of the worldwide WSA Winners in its category.

By winning a World Summit Award, the creative minds behind Uepaa! were invited to present their venture on a global stage and in front of a high class international audience in Sri Lanka from October 23 - 26. This event, which takes place every two years, served as a global hub for the world’s best e-content with workshops, renowned speakers and podium discussions - overall a unique opportunity to discuss recent trends in e-content. Attendees included 60+ high-profile speakers from worldwide including Heads of States, government representatives, executives from UN agencies and private sector leaders.

Adolf J. Doerig, National Expert at World Summit Award: “Uepaa convinced through its robust implementation of a technology currently being researched and developed by ETH Zürich. The practical, useful, well-designed and multilingual solution enthralled the World Summit Award’s international jury. With its entrepreneurial, personable and creative achievements, Uepaa! is the ideal representative of the competitive strength of the Swiss ICT industry on a global scale.”
