Swiss start-ups tap into the most diverse sources of money and are expanding globally, despite travel restrictions. But in order to ensure growth, they have to be inventive.

Dear reader

WealthArc and Parquery are already very successful internationally in their markets. Parquery’s parking solutions are used in 30 countries to make cities smarter; for example, by recording available parking spaces. WealthArc’s technology is used by 60 private banks in Switzerland, the UK and Singapore. Both start-ups have now completed financing rounds that will accelerate further growth: WealthArc has received USD 4 million from investors, and a long-standing partner company has invested in Parquery.

Adtech start-up 1plusX is also on a growth path, with thoughts of conquering Asia from Japan. A Japanese partner is investing in the development of products adapted to the Asian market.

Pharvaris is taking a big approach: the biotech start-up is making its stock market debut on the Nasdaq today and generated USD 165 million.

The ways in which Swiss start-ups grow are diverse and the invention of their founders is astonishing. There has been a growing interest in start-up innovations among partners of all kinds; for example, Kantonsspital Baden has participated in heyPatient. The start-up has developed an app that simplifies the many interactions between hospital and patient.

Dokoki had already won an important specialist retail chain as a sales partner for its innovative baby monitor before production started. Investors have injected CHF 2.7 million, but the start-up has also attracted consumers: so far, 700 baby monitors have been sold in advance via the website.

The establishment of a network is part of the virtual bootcamps organised by swissnex Boston and swissnex New York and also part of the Innosuisse internationalisation programme. Ten start-ups will take part from Monday. The latest five projects funded as part of the First Ventures programme have also been made known, ranging from classic deeptech to an e-learning platform for midwives.

Startup Media House has just launched and has selected its first three companies. Our article explains what the initiative is about.

The deadlines for some interesting competitions are coming up at the end of February, including Venture Leaders Mobile, the IFAS Innovation Challenge for start-ups with innovations for the healthcare sector, and the Swiss Medtech Award. Applications are open for this year’s Startup Champions Seed Night until 14 February.

I would also like to point out the kick-off of the venture competition on Wednesday and the F10 Demo Day on Thursday.

Have a good weekend
