Several initiatives have been launched to help start-ups recruit among young graduates. In Lausanne, the students association «Forum EPFL» is organizing for the 3rd time the «Start-up Day» on Friday 5th of October. Sebastien Flury explains in a blog post how start-ups can profit.

The lack of qualified employees is a serious challenge for fast growing Swiss start-ups. Often it is easier to find a new customer than to hire a new team member. In his blog Startupolic Sebastien Flury writes about an event at EPFL that addresses this problem: the Start-up Day of the “Forum EPFL” which will take place on Friday 5th of October.

Entrepreneurs have the possibility to book a booth for free, attend pitch training and then pitch their project to students, and even buy the «CV book» of all EPFL graduates of the year.

Last year, around 40 companies had a booth. Promising start-ups and support organisations like Venturelab or some technology parks made their best efforts to seduce the visitors.

In Sebastien Flury's opinion every start-up should attend: “Even if you’re not planning to recruit people in the next 3 months, my opinion is that a startup is always in a «recruiting mode» (if you raise money tomorrow, you should already know who you’d like to hire!). And by acquiring the «CV book», you can already prepare yourself for the event by screening the best talents… and invite them beforehand for an interview/discussion!”

Start-ups that register for the event should be present the whole day. Deadline for registration is 31 August. The registration is possible via the website of Forum EPFL.
