Pico

Smart-me is expanding its technology to include e-charging stations. Its first product, Pico, which connects to the cloud via the local WLAN or mobile phones, has attracted 40 per cent more funds than initially required. The crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter is still ongoing.

Charging electric cars can be quite tedious due to technical barriers, complicated configuration procedures and costs that prevent building owners from installing charging infrastructure. To address this issue, the cleantech startup smart-me, provider of measurement and intelligent controlling solutions for smart energy flows in buildings, has built Pico, an innovative, user-friendly charging station.

Once installed, Pico automatically links to Smart-me’s intelligent cloud via WiFi, LTE or GSM allowing users to monitor and control a station in real-time. The EV station also configures well with open interfaces of third party systems allowing for seamless integration in any energy or building control environment. The smart charging station comes with a wide range of features that will elevate the life of electric car drivers.

Smart-me plans to launch the new charging station in 2021. To reach this milestone, the startup kicked off a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter to raise funds for production. With 30 days left to close the campaign, the startup has already obtained CHF more than 70’800 Swiss francs, 40 per cent more than than the initial target of CHF 50’000.
