During the next weeks several Startup Weekends will take place. Startup Weekends are weekend-long, hands-on experiences where entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs can work on their business ideas. The first Weekend will start on Friday evening in Basel, followed by an even in Neuchâtel (12 to 14 October) and another one in St. Gallen (26 to 28 October).

Startup Weekends are 54-hour events designed to provide superior experiential education for technical and non-technical entrepreneurs. As the events are organised by different teams the events vary in detail but the principle is always the same. Beginning with Friday night pitches and continuing through brainstorming, business plan development, and basic prototype creation, Startup Weekends culminate in Sunday night demos and presentations. Participants create working startups during the event and are able to collaborate with like-minded individuals outside of their daily networks. The teams are supported by experienced coaches.

Beginning with open mic pitches on Friday, attendees are encouraged to bring their best ideas and inspire others to join their team. Over Saturday and Sunday the interdisciplinary teams design and develop business plans while constantly streamlining their startup vision. On Saturday evening teams demo their prototypes, listen to judges’ feedback and win prizes in some cities

Startup Weekends are risk-free environments where everyone is expected to roll up their sleeves and dive into the exhilarating world of startups. Usually the language used at the events is German or French but it’s also possible to work and present in English.

The next dates:
Basel: 28 to 30 September
Neuchâtel: 12 to 14 October
St. Gallen: 26 to 28 October (organised by Startfeld)
