Start Summit 2017 brings innovation in a new dimension

START Global, a student association of the University of St. Gallen and its partners will host over 1500 guests including investors, entrepreneurs and like-minded individuals at the Start summit in St. Gallen in 2017. The two day event comprises of a wide range of activities ranging from keynotes, 1:1 meetings, and workshops to recruiting, networking, pitching etc. Startups will again compete for the Start Summiteer prize. Registration is now. Early-bird tickets are available until 31. December.

SGS Acquires Control of C-Labs

Today SGS, a Geneva based company specializing in verification, testing certification and inspection, announced the acquisition of a controlling stake in C-Labs SA from Chiasso, Switzerland. C-labs is developing solutions for transforming food regulatory compliance.

Trustyourplace collaborates with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals

The Basel Institute of Commons and Economics AG announced that it closed a partnership with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The startup is conducting surveys on their platform Trustyourplace to assess Social capital in over 140 countries using eight indicators. Social capital is a core-asset that could be exploited to end conflicts, poverty corruption and other social calamities.

Business Angel Groups advocate for diversity

The survey conducted by the SwissICT investor Club showed that 67% of females are interested in investing; however they lack the skills and investing knowledge. As a result, investing groups are endeavouring to support to both aspiring and active female investors.

The Investor Summit is a global event connecting Swiss start-ups with over 200 top international investors in an effort to strengthen Switzerland’s international position as a global hub for innovation and entrepreneurship. 18 companies have been selected to present their business cases in pitches and exhibitions.

Photovoltaik wird in der Regel nicht zu den Stärken der Schweiz gezählt. Auf Seiten der Industrie sorgten sogar einige Konkurse wie derjenige von Sputnik Engineering für Schlagzeilen. Der Bericht „Photovoltaikforschung und -innovation in der Schweiz – aktuelle Entwicklungen und Fördermassnahmen des Bundes“, den der Bundesrat letzte Woche gutgeheissen hat, liefert nun Zahlen.
