Exploring the Gotthard base tunnel with VR

The first phase of the official app of the new Gotthard base tunnel was already launched. On 1 June, the day the tunnel is officially opened, the app will be upgraded with additional virtual reality applications: passengers will be able to experience travelling through the tunnel with the shuttle train, complete with fascinating interactive elements such as a spatial visualisation of the journey through the mountain or a 3D sightseeing flight over the Saint-Gotthard Massif.

The smartphone app has been produced by the Zurich-based app and game developer bitforge in collaboration with the app specialists at SBB. It comes in four languages, with versions for iPhone and Android, and is now available to download free of charge from app stores.
