Capcom, one of the leading game publishers globally with some of the most iconic characters and franchises, launched Gyakuten Saiban (Ace Attorney), its 4 million-selling role playing video game, on Google Play powered by the Lotaris Platform.

The Lotaris Platform is already powering Ace Attorney in the Docomo d-menu marketplace, using a freemium model with a choice of episodes for in-game purchase, and payment through Docomo billing or credit card. "Capcom loves our flexible business model capabilities and our Platform's integration with key sales channels", explained Mr. Yusuke Kanda, representative director for Lotaris in Japan. "When it came to launching on Google Play, Capcom did not need to do any new integration work. It was simply a case of  configuring a new channel on the Lotaris Platform, which was already integrated with Google Play", said Mr. Tomoki Akashi, Lotaris project engineering lead.

Besides reducing the time to market and expanding revenue through its business models, a key driver for Capcom was the robustness of the Lotaris licensing service, with its persistent built-in security. Together with another global game editor, Lotaris benchmarked a major game title (not  using its licensing) on Google Play,  and found that at least 50% of the game activations were illegal. "We expect to dramatically reduce the number of illegal uses of Ace Attorney", remarked Mr. Akashi.

"Now that the Japanese version of Ace Attorney has been successfully launched on Google Play, we anticipate that the English version will follow suit in the coming days, said Mr. Keast. "We look forward to powering more games and more channels for Capcom", he said.

Lotaris was founded in 2008 and is based in Yverdon-les-Bains.
