Swiss Mobile Basecamp 2012 is a one day event for swiss companies, aspiring entrepreneurs and start-ups providing an overview of the commercial landscape and dynamics of the mobile industry – spanning from the old world of telecoms to the new world of software. The event is designed to provide a boost to Swiss start-ups in mobile and provide them with the knowledge to succeed beyond the Swiss borders - through a series of educational presentations, workshops, and other highlights.

One highlight is the mobile clinic, where entrepreneurs can meet the experts and ask for their feedback, advice and insights on whatever topic that you wish. The clinic will be staffed by the speakers from the morning session – as well as the workshop hosts and additional participants from Google, HTC and Swisscom.

On top of that all companies registering to attend the event are invited to apply to enter Dragon’s Den style pitches The start-up deemed to show the most ‘potential’ will win 2x entrance tickets worth €699 each to Mobile World Congress 2012 in Barcelona plus several other great prizes including a new Windows Phone from Nokia, a new iPhone 4S, a 1 year subscription to Museeka Premium worth CHF190, and half a day of coaching from The Coul Room.

The speakers who will share their knowledge and learnings are experienced international industry veterans working for companies like Google, HTC, Nokia, Ocean Observations, Red Bend, Rovio, Skype and Vision Mobile.

The event will take place on 18th January in Bern. Early bird tickets are available until the 24th November.

Swiss Mobile Basecamp 2012 was founded by Martin Coul, after he left Skype and relocated to Lausanne during the summer of 2011. The idea for the event resulted from Martin’s numerous conversations with Swiss CEOs, venture capitalists, angel investors, lawyers, academia, aspiring entrepreneurs and coaches. From these discussions, one observation about the Swiss ICT ecosystem struck him more than any other:  Despite the phenomenal support network that exists in Switzerland to help start-ups with research, funding and coaching etc he found that Swiss start-ups and entrepreneurs in ICT, and mobile in particular were struggling to climb the hockey stick growth curve towards ubiquity and evangelize and sell their solutions beyond the Swiss borders.
