AirConsole is nominated as most Innovative Mobile App in Category 4: Best Mobile Apps for the Global Mobile Awards (GLOMO) 2016. The startup has developed a gaming environment, where smartphones are used as controllers while a PC, tablet or TV serves as the screen. The winner of this year’s Glomo Awards will be honoured throughout Mobile World Congress, which takes place on 22-25 February in Barcelona.
The Glomo Awards 2016, the mobile industry’s longest established awards platform recognises everything from game changing mobile devices to applications, technologies, apps and services, showcasing the ever growing value that mobility brings to users, to industries, to businesses, communities and economies. This year 285 companies in the mobile industry have been nominated, among which is a Swiss start-up AirConsole. The winner will be revealed at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
AirConsole is a virtual console - a completely free, completely web-based. The App provides users with a low-latency and auto-scaling infrastructure as well as a simple API and boilerplate controller code to get started. The company specializes in games and game development and also provides a game store where players will find their game of interest. AirConsole also provides several opportunities for game developers including a unique couch co-op XP, fantastic platform for indie developers to publish games, players are not required to download any hardware or App, rather can use their browser. Players can also use different connections in the same game session.
Meanwhile, the company team is currently focusing on growing its user base and providing the best local multiplayer experience. Eventually, the platform will be monetized by ads shown between game sessions. The platform itself and the first games were developed at N-Dream AG in Zurich.
