During MIPCOM, Viewster, the Zurich-based Video on Demand service, announced a number of fresh content deals to bring successful international series to new audiences worldwide and broaden its library as it continues to quickly grow into one of the world's most popular and content-rich ad-supported video-on-demand services.

"We are in a transition from a broad library toward top international series that we are making available free and ad-supported. Our young audience just loves discovering international series with us," said Kai Henniges, Viewster CEO. “There are fantastic formats out there, often the original version that is re-made in the US. We find these formats and make them available in markets that would otherwise not see them.”

The MIPCOM announcements in detail include:

  • 110 Hours from six different BBC series available to American viewers, including popular and critical hits like That Mitchell and Webb Look, Merlin and Pulling from FremantleMedia.
  • Exclusive series provided by Content Television, a division of Content Media for the UK, Germany and other European countries.
  • 130 hours and 18 titles of Japanese Anime from FUNimation, including fan favorites Girls Bravo and Deadman Wonderland.
  • Hundreds of hours of series programming from Starz Digital Media, Shine Group, Dori Media Group and ALL3MEDIA now live on Viewster.

Viewster is a global fast-growing video 'on demand' platform, offering thousands of films and TV series ad-based and free-to-watch. In 2012, more than one billion videos were viewed through Viewster's service. Viewster was launched in 2008, is headquartered in Zurich and has offices in Adelaide, London, New York and Singapore.
