Thinking outside the box
Dear Reader
Traditional print journalism is finding it increasingly difficult to generate revenue. As a result, Tamedia is aiming to generate half its total income from the digital sector. It’s already started with Doodle and Zattoo. Now, further acquisitions and partnerships are on the agenda. Startupticker talked to the person in charge of Tamedia Digital about the company’s plans.
It also appears more and more farmers are open to good ideas from young entrepreneurs. The agriculture portal Agricircle this week announced its entry into the German market, practically the same time as winning the Startfeld Diamant, the young entrepreneur prize from St. Galler Kantonalbank.
Speaking of prizes: with Mimedis, Geosatis and Calcisco, we have the first three of the five winners of this year’s WA de Vigier Prize. Portraits of the other winners will follow.
What else does next week bring? On Monday, the registration deadlines for the Swiss Startups Award and the Innovation Award of the canton of Fribourg expire. And on Thursday the Startup Fair takes place in Zurich’s Maag Event Hall, the largest young entrepreneur fair in Switzerland.
Finally, a message of our own: startupticker welcomes two new partners from western Switzerland: Innovaud, the innovation agency of the canton of Vaud, and the School of Management Fribourg.
Have a good weekend.
