The Swiss start-up Roundsight GmbH launches its app 'ymportant' for iOS devices. ymportant is a fast and easy to use app to catch little things of life, things typically ignored by smartphones today. In addition to catching magical moments, users can let the app produce so called strips, a new way of interacting.
With ymportant, users can collect all the little moments that matter. “ympys” let them store information (picture, people, location, description, rating, price, etc.) about something that happened or they saw. In addition, the app can create “ympy strips” for the users. With ympy strips, they get a new way of interacting, a quick new way of telling a short story. All data belong to the user and are stored locally on the device.
The app was launched on the App Store last Friday.
Much of the uniqueness of the ymportant approach comes from the combination of the system design with the way user data are organized and stored. Unlike what happens with solutions based on tags or descriptions, the data can be interpreted to provide interesting insights, suggest possible new content, etc. In addition, it will allow us to offer additional services in the future, based for example on the people present at the memorized events.
ymportant was developed by the two Swiss Olivier and Christian. Holding degrees from ETH Zurich (consistently ranked best university in continental Europe) and EPFL, they bring a strong entrepreneurship and product development track record. The company Roundsight was founded to develop and market ymportant.
