Since its launch 9 months ago, Baobabooks Education platform has been growing fast, gathering already more than 16’000 registered users in 41 schools and 5 countries. The Geneva edtech led by Peter Nicholson has just been selected for the World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE) accelerator program supported by the Qatar Foundation.

Baobabooks Education is fostering creativity and gathering momentum. The Geneva edtech platform just ran a Summer Writing Challenge that saw nearly 3,000 kids participate from 15 countries around the world. Leveraging teacher-friendly technology, the Baobabooks platform is already available in six languages (more coming) and supports classroom-based and remote learning. Students can upload their own art to illustrate their books or choose from our indexed library of 2.4 million images. Once published into its online bookstore, books can be purchased in digital form or print and shipped to your address, all seamlessly integrated into platform.

Through the edtech platform, students and schools collaborate across cultures, oceans and continents, learn from each other and collaborate to create a book. The startup helps teachers harness technology to support their students in creating something with value and meaning. It also enables students gain confidence and pride by experiencing the sense of accomplishment that comes from creating their own book.

Baobabooks offers out its platform for free to children and parents and charge schools an annual fee based on the number of users they want to register. Additionally, as a social impact company, and in support of the UN SDG #4 (education), the edtech gives out its platform for free to schools from underserved geographies. The company has 16,000+ registered users from 41 schools in 5 countries, a number growing every week.

Growing and outperforming forecasts

Baobabooks Education is currently growing its team to meet the growing demand on the business and adding new formats and more languages to expand its engagement with kids and utility for educators. Speaking of the current traction, CEO and Co-founder Peter Nicholson says “The  results will outperform our forecast but more importantly we have engaged with children on six continents and stimulated and supported their creativity by helping them to publish their own book. The notes we get from children after they publish their books is the most rewarding part of the work we do and motivates us to dream bigger and do more each day.”
