Basel-based utility company IWB is the first client to permanently install immersive 3D audio at its facilities. Developed by Swiss startup Audiobreeze, the solution helps users achieve an entirely new emotional, mental and neurological impact through 3D audio scenes in their space.

The global background sound market is a USD 12 billion market, but it is mainly dominated by background music. Aiming to transform the market is Audiobreeze, the first audio streaming app that provides 3-dimensional, intelligent, AI-generated scenic soundscapes and sceneries, which have been specially recorded, designed and programmed for spatial applications in health, retail, hospitality, home and workspaces. “3D audio is being pushed by the big players like Apple, Sony, Dolby, Sonos, Sennheiser and more. Giving Audiobreeze a first mover advantage”, said Ramon De Marco, Co-founder of Audiobreeze.

The app provides different nature themes like a high alpine scenery, a forest ambience, an underwater world, an urban city atmosphere, etc. The audio atmosphere is never repeated thanks to an algorithm and AI, which influences the atmospheres with external data like weather or daytime. Usable with favourable, easy-to-use wireless 3D speakers on the market, the subscription-based solution is more affordable than current alternatives.

During the early stages, the startup ran paid pilot projects with organisations such as TRANSA, a renowned travel and outdoor brand in Switzerland, which tested the solution for six months at two stores in Lucerne and Zurich, and Blaser Architects which is currently testing the app.

Following the successful pilots, Audiobreeze has won its first long-term customer; IWB, a utility company that supplies the Basel region with energy, water, telecommunication and mobility services, has realised a permanent installation of AUDIOBREEZE at its new flagship store, located in the Basel city centre. During the day, 3D nature soundscapes and special events sound from a high-end multichannel sound system. More companies will soon join the Audiobreeze customer base.

Audiobreeze plans to conduct a project with the Baselland Cantonal Hospital (KSBL) to investigate the proven scientific aspects of natural sounds in a real health environment. The project will be accompanied by a scientific InnoCheck research project with the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSLU).

Behind the 2023 incorporated startup is a team of two co-founders Ramon De Marco and Peter Philippe Weiss (CEO), supported by Bjorn van Munster for international relations and sales, Valentin Wepfer for consulting and freelancers. The company plans to hire the first employees after its ongoing seed round closes.
